Outfit post: sky blue dress and men’s designers

A sky blue dress adds a little summer to my day whatever the weather.

What I wore

I went for a spring sky blue look, but didn’t want to look too weddingy, you know? I thought a leopard print scarf, and a black tailored jacket would help to avoid this. Paired with a pair of wedged boots and Bob is indeed your uncle!

The event

It was the launch of the Men’s British Designers’ Collective at Bicester Village, attended by a glam crowd, including some very pretty models, DJs and the very stylish. It had a very British feel to it, with beautiful quirky detailing, which you can see from the photo below:

Glittering and gold – everything I need this season.

To me, this jumper is perfect. It’s such a perfect hue of gold and is a perfect way to wear the metallic trend without being too much. It’s only £9.99, but sadly has sold out. Keep your eye out for it here.

How I’d wear it:

The way I’d really want to style it, is with a black maxi skirt and massive wedges. Oh and a floppy hat. Or I’d love to wear a white shirt dress underneath it, with sheer tights.

Wish Magazine launch: cupcakes, glitter and fashionable nostalgia

Sunday was a flurry of beautiful cupcakes, magical cocktails and wonderful fashion at the Wish Magazine launch.

What I wore:

What does a girl wear to a fashionable magazine launch, attended by other bloggers? I thought pastels were a good move, as spring is supposed to be here.

The event:

If you’re a fan of Carrie’s blog WishWishWish, then you’re going to adore her and Lucy’s (from the wonderful blog Shiny Thoughts) magazine Wish. The launch party was a collection of very pretty girls, celebrating amidst knitting sessions, lovely Wish gin cocktails, delicious cakes, nostalgic jazz and perfumery from Penhaligon’s. One of my highlights was meeting the lovely Briony from A Girl A Style, which put a smile on my face – but I think I might have scared her with my enthusiasm.

It was such a pretty tea party, and so very thought out and I imagine the creative aesthetic comes from a very set perfection and high standards that come from Lucy and Carrie. They are girls that know what has worked for them thus far on their very successful blogs, and they certainly know their reader.

The magazine is adorned with gorgeous illustrations, beautifully written features and everything you need for yours to feed happilly for an hour or two. It’s interesting to see two bloggers who are famous for their take on their own lives, with their photography and narration, turn the camera on other people. And the result is just what I hoped it would be. I can’t wait to have the first edition in my hands. You can order the magazine from May 21st from Carrie’s blog.

Outfit post: dark magic and feather headbands

Yesterday I was feeling rather witchy, so it was all about le noir and birds of a feather.

Feather headband: Primark £2 – buy similar here.

Black maxi skirt: Dorothy Perkins £18

The problem is, when you’re fair and have dark hair, that wearing black can be rather gothic. And while there is a time and a place for that, I needed some colour. The red belt and orange lipstick helped to break this look up, but it was all centred around my feather headband.

I bought it about two years ago, but have never really found the right occasion to wear it, and it seemed that the rest of the outfit naturally followed. I’m not sure if it’s seeing the pictures of people at Coachella recently, but I definitely felt a call to nature with this outfit. The top is an all-in-one, which is great for a figure-hugging look, but not so great when you’re on a night out. The skirt is a maxi one, and I was tempted to wear it as a dress, but did realise it’s not summer yet! I got the feather headband from Primark and think I will definitely wear it for festivals and things this summer.

Vogue Fashion’s Night Out 2012 Global dates are announced – who, what, when and where.

Fashionista’s everywhere rejoice! Vogue’s fashion’s night out have been announced for 2012.

One global night to celebrate shopping – who wouldn’t be happy? For the fourth year running, the night will run on September 6 – and new for this year, all 19 territories that publish Vogue will take part!

Along with the UK, the US, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, Mexico, Australia and Korea will hold their celebrations on September 6; China, India, Germany and Russia on September 7; Taiwan and Japan on September 8; Brazil on September 10 and 12; Portugal, Italy, Turkey, The Netherlands and Mexico on September 13; Italy on September 18; and Greece on September 20 and 25!

It really is a global event. I’m going to be out in my gladrags this year! Are you going along?

I love it when something quite different comes along and just goes with everything! For me that’s these lovely ankle bracelets from ASOS. I saw them on the picture, taken from LeBlogDeBetty - one of my favourite blogs and I am so ordering some when they’re back in stock. So you could wear them with shorts, jeans, and skirts – not bad for £20 huh?

Outfit post: sunny days and vintage dresses

Sometimes the best dresses are those with history, with their own story to tell….

A girl I work with brought in some gorgeous vintage clothes last week, so I bought this spotty sort of dress from her, for £20! I don’t buy vintage nearly as much as I’d want to and I was really taken with how loud this dress was. She has a red belt to go with it, but did not have it on her, so I can’t wait to add this into the mix. I wore it to a ladie’s lunch with my aunt, mum and cousins over the weekend and felt very dressed up!

These shorts are from a wonderful little shop called Bang Bang on Etsy. I love not only the tie dye, but the stud details too, really make these shorts stand out even more. They’d be perfect with strappy sandals and a laid back white t-shirt.

The shop customises all sorts of denim, but these are my favourite looks. I also might have a go at doing it myself. See more of the shorts here.

A girl can have her fantasy outfits right? Well if I were attending the Met Ball, this would be my outfit…

Dior Haute Couture dress - price on request

First off, I’d choose this gorgeous Dior Haute Couture dress from this season, just because red makes a girl POP and this event is definitely all about popping. Do I mind that the carpet will be the same colour? Not at all, I’ve had fashion face offs with carpets before. And guess who’s still walking?

I adore how the simplistic waves of the bodice continue along the skirts of the dress, giving it a streamlined effect. And strapless is always the way to go with me.

Gucci gold multi-strap leather heels £630

Some people might not like gold with red, but I think it’s quite a beautiful mix. It’s all about getting the tones right, you see. I like these heels, because when the dress swishes back, you can still see how beautiful of these. Never let long dresses fool you into buying boring shoes. People will notice.

Christian Louboutin Artemis fringed leather bag £750

This is one of the most beautiful and dramatic bags I have seen in a long time. I really would advise normally to have one statement piece – i.e. in this case the dress, but this bag needs to be worn. I love the shoulder detail on the handle, and you can remove it if you want to use the bag as a clutch. Versatility is key.

Georgia May Jagger and Pixie Geldof for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2012

Something I feel very passionate about is the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign, which this year is fronted by it-girls Georgia May Jagger and Pixie Geldof.

Now it’s 16 year (can you believe it), FTBC was created by Ralph Lauren in 1994, in order to get more people in the industry behind this cause. I have known/know people going through this horrible disease, so want to help spread the word as much as possible. I mean 1 in 8 women get diagnosed with it.

Since then some of the fashion world’s biggest names, including Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Jerry Hall, Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson ,Twiggy &Kylie Minogue have all fronted the campaign, and the annual posters, shot by big name photographers and featuring the iconic FTBC ‘target’ logo, have become a regular fixture in they fashion calendar.

There’s also a whole host of shops such as River Island, Topshop and more who have got involved, selling bespoke designs for the FTBC – with a huge minimum of 30% of sales going towards Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Some of my favourites include:

1) Coast Natasha dress, RRP £150

This is a foxy little number isn’t it? Rather Jessica Rabbit stylee, and I like it!

2) M&S Hat, RRP £19.50

I’m all over this for summer. Such a cute variation on the hat whilst on a beach. I can also picture riding down country lanes on a Pashley wearing this.

3) Mywardrobe.com Daisy Sterling Silver Bracelet, RRP £58

A simple but effective way of showing your support, this is such a pretty charm. It would go with everything too!
