The other weekend, we trotted to the country for the Jack Wills varsity match at Guards Polo Club, which was the perfect English summer day.
A yearly event, celebrating the talent of student polo, with a twist of the Jack Wills glamour. With a double decker bus serving drinks, pimms, picnics and prosecco on tap, this was a very fabulous British day.
We watched two lots of school teams go head to head in two matches. Eton v Harrow and old enemies Cambridge v Oxford, gaming for the historic Varsity Trophy. Oxford and Cambridge have been battling for dominance on the field since 1879, and this year is not one to be missed.
Jack Wills Varsity has actually been around since the early 1900’s, and was previously just called ‘Varsity Polo’, until Jack Wills took it over in 2007. And after a day of tense matches, everyone toasted the winning teams!
I wore a gorgeous white dress (The Lachbury), featuring a scalloped design embroidery, and these stunning floral blue brogues (soon to be added to the site) to the event. I wanted one piece of my outfit to really stand out and I know normally that’s the dress, but I thought it would be quite different to wear brogues and have them be the key feature. I felt super comfortable, but stylish all day, which is a rarity for a day event!
