The Fashion 2.0 Social Media winners

In the fashion world, everyone is trying to be a social media star, but just who are the award winners leading the way?Fashion-2.0-awards-photo

The Fashion 2.0 Awards are the first industry-recognized distinction honoring the most innovative fashion brands for their outstanding achievements and communication strategies across a variety of digital media channels. The awards look at fashion brands who “embraced online technology and social media in the past year”

Also known as the “Digital Oscars,” hosts Simon Doonan and Robert Verdi, presented Diane von Furstenberg, Gilt Groupe, and Anthropologie some of the top awards of the night for their Twitter, Pinterest, videos, and more. Marc Jacobs andSaks Fifth Avenue took two honors each, and DKNY was named “Best Twitter” for the fourth year running.

Rent the Runway founders Jennifer Hyman and Jenny Fleiss were presented with the second annual Fashion 2.0 Visionary Award in acknowledgement of their achievements in disrupting the retail industry and democratising luxury fashion.

I think it is really important to recognise brands and their digital efforts over the year, but one thing that seems to strike me is that really is not enough of looking at the businesses who do not have the budgets of these huge corps. For instance, I think it is the businesses who do not have the millions to plough into digital, but still succeeding that should be applauded, instead of just looking at the usual contenders. What do you think?

Never the less, the winners of the Fashion 2.0 Awards were :
