Outfit post: silk dresses and hand-painted castles

Sometimes you meet a dress that is so different, so elegant and beautiful, that it’s instantaneous love…

Last week, while I was out and about in East London, I went to Absolute Vintage. I do love that shop, but never seem to be with people who want to route with me. As I was with my boyfriend, once again, I did not have the most time. I always swear to go back by myself and really look for good quality vintage clothes.

As I was speeding around, I came to the cream section of dresses, and this lovely dress was only the third I came across. Well, that was it for me. Pure unadulterated love. This dress is from the 1970’s and has gorgeous hand-painted castles all over it. It also features a frilled hem, sleeves and collar which makes it even more adorable.

I was expecting it cost me the earth, and I checked the price tag. Guess how much? £18. Yes that’s right. I was shocked – I really thought something so different would cost me so much more. I paired it with pink slipper shoes, and it was such a comfortable wear, that I think I might end up wearing it every day.

As it put me in a bit of a hippy mood, I decided to turn an old butterfly necklace I have, into the headband, and pinned it around my hair for a bohemian look!

What do you think of the dress? Have you ever shopped at Absolute Vintage?

It’s gorgeous, what a great find!
I’ve never been there but I love to have a good rummage so it sounds like somewhere I’d enjoy.
