Spring/summer trends: 20s fashion

In the third of the my series on spring/trends, this time I’m focusing on 20s fashion – which is going to be huge in the next few months. As a particular inspiration is the gorgeous Carey Mulligan playing Daisy in the Great Gatsby. Love the dresses, headbands and cute bobbed hair!

So in this post, I’ve found some key items you can wear to keep on top of the trend, all of which are quite affordable:

1) Jamaica Pink Heels, £55 at Topshop

These are perfect for dancing the night away in aren’t they? Love the glittery sparkle, which is reminiscent of Miu Miu’s boots.

2) Topshop Antique Gold Sequin Cape, £47 at eBay

This little gold number is ever-so-20s, and I think if you wear it with a little black dress, you can add a real touch of elegance to your outfit. There might just be one of these on eBay, but if you have a search, you can find quite a lot similar on there.

3) Flapper dress, £16 (!) ASOS

Quintessential for any 20s outfit, the flapper dress is the key statement when going all Gatsbyfied. I like this modern twist on the flapper dress and wanted to share the back of the dress with you too – a detail too often missed.

4) Nude Feather Clutch, £25 at ASOS

This would look beautiful with a white dress, and great for a wedding or christening? I think it can definitely take you through to autumn/winter too for evening soirees.

5) White Cloche Hat, £30 at Christys Hats

This is was all the rage in the 20s, and women used this to show off their short bobs etc. I think it looks great paired with a modern-day outfits, so you don’t look like you’re in costume.

What do you think of the 20s trend? Is it something you would wear? What do you think about the items I chose?

Such a lovely look you’ve pulled together, alas I will never look like the beauty that is Carey. Really cannot wait for the film to be released. And I can’t believe how cheap that dress actually is! Gotta love ASOS.
