Wow – that’s one word to explain how the Marilyn Monroe exhibition left me feeling. Last week, I attended the exclusive event to sample some of Marilyn’s costumes, outfits and never-before-seen photographs in the Getty exhibition.
It was an incredible night, and especially because after seeing so many of her films, hearing so much about her and seeing her everywhere, I felt like I was almost in the room with her – especially by being able to see what she wore. There’s nothing more intimate about a person than their fashion and seeing Marilyn’s outfits really made me feel she was in the room with us.
And for a second, I thought she was when I spotted this blonde bombshell from behind:
And while she looked a lot like her, it turned out she was just a special impersonator for the evening:
There were plenty of costumes to see and I’m not entirely sure when/where they were all from, but here are some of my favourites:
I love the shorter playsuits in particular, and as a curvy girl would love to wear these myself – they’re so playful and sexy aren’t they?
These weren’t the best photos – apologies for the flash, but it was in glass casing, so rather difficult to capture!
And of course, here’s a sneaky picture of myself in le toilettes, as I didn’t get to do an outfit post:
Overall, it was such a good experience and I felt very grateful to go. I do love Marilyn and this helped me to learn just that little more about her.
If you want to go, it’s from March 9 to May 23 at Getty Images Gallery, 46 Eastcastle St London W1W 8DX.
Are you a Marilyn fan? Will you go and visit the exhibition?
