The Tale of Rodarte, Natalie Portman and The Black Swan

With the release of the film Black Swan with Natalie Portman being released in the UK on January 21st, there has been a buzz in the fashion world about the GORGEOUS costumes.

Portman plays Nina, in the infamous Swan Lake. This girl is cursed by a sorcerer and turns into a white swan, then eventually into a black one because of a demon’s seduction.

The costumes were designed by the Rodarte sisters, with beautiful finishes and are as much a protagonist in the story as Portman herself.  Look at the gorgeous sketches below, to see more detail on each costume for the black and white swan.

All this talk of ballerina got me wanting to research some fashion editorials and these were a few of my favourites:

So are you excited about seeing the films? Do you have a thing about Natalie Portman too? How can someone be so intelligent and beautiful? SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Great post. I can't wait to see Black Swan, the trailer looks amazing, and the sketches you have shown above. I also picked up a lovely set of postcards advertising it in the cinema, great graphics.
